I recently placed an order with William Lennon for a pair of X10 Fell boots, for which there is a 20 week lead time. A search highlighted these boots as available in the size 9 Lennon's customer service advised for me ( I'm a 44 or 9 2/3 in most modern hiking boots), and I took the plunge. This gives me the opportunity to acquaint myself with the lasting shape, build quality and to reacquaint myself with the old-school breaking in process. Modern boots, with all their padding, never really break in. This process is progressing as memory serves, and as expected.
The boots are clearly very well made, already pretty comfortable after only a few miles and have an air of indestructabilty about them. A different feel to boots with a Norwegian welt - more firm, due presumably, to the brass wire sole-to-upper stitching and the leather midsole.
Compared to some other brands these boots, and the entire William Lennon range, are very reasonably priced - particularly given the robust construction and high quality components. Longevity is assured, give even a modicum of maintenance, and I feel I've found 'my' brand at last.
