Alpha Industries heavy duty combat jacket. Showerproof. Four pockets, zip and press stud front, concealed hood in collar, storm cuffs which fold up when not required. Velcro cuff adjustment, inside pocket. Alpha Industries M-65 is the classic US military field coat, manufactured to military specifications.

Liner is NOT INCLUDED with jacket. Liner sold seperately.

This is Alpha's size guide (chest sizes), but please bear in mind that this jacket is a generous fit:
X-Small = Up to 33 inches
Small = 33 - 37 inches
Medium = 37 - 41 inches
Large = 41 - 45 inches
X-Large = 45 - 49 inches
XX-Large = 49 - 53 inches
XXX-Large = 53 - 57 inches

FANTASTIC JACKET DID NOT BUY FROM SILVERMAN THOUGH AS PRIER BAD EXPERIENCE

The Alpha Industries M65 field jacket is a fantastic buy. I still have my old one, and even after around 30 years it still looks great apart from some fading, which I actually like. Who doesn’t want a bit of natural wear on a proper field jacket?

Mine’s the older version, made from 50% nylon and 50% cotton. Sadly, the new ones don’t seem to use the same material, and why they changed that is beyond me. The older blend just feels tougher and more authentic. I went for the black originally and kind of wish I’d picked the green — it’s more in line with the classic M65 look.

I didn’t buy mine from Silvermans because of a past bad experience. Years back, I bought a pair of Danner Arcadia boots from them. They fell to pieces under warranty, so I sent them back. They returned them saying they weren’t in bad condition, but what came back wasn’t even my pair they were covered in white paint, a size bigger, and clearly swapped. I was dealing with a French guy on the phone at the time, and after that, I vowed never to buy from Silvermans again. Maybe it’s run by different people now, but back then, that was enough for me to take my business elsewhere. I have left a 3 star due to the switch in materials.

Just the best version of this jacket, is plenty big enough to wear layers under or I would order a size down.

Absolute Top Quality

I purchased one of these at a military surplus store in Cambridge, some twenty plus years ago. It was perfect for my purpose as an International Photojournalist. The big pockets allowed me to lighten the weight on my shoulder by transferring items to the pockets e.g. light meter, lenses, notebooks, films etc. I don’t use battery-dependent digital cameras. The meters in my 1960s Leicaflex cameras don’t work.
My bag is heavy at the best of times. Distribution of weight is always important for comfort. The sheer quality of this jacket enabled it to be worn for almost twenty years, at home and abroad. I just sewers a Union Jack flag 4” X 2” on the left just above the breast pocket. That assured my safety many times. Diving into a pocket or my bag for a passport could, potentially, have endangered me.
So I’m going to buy another before I venture somewhere soon?
Strongly recommend this item. Plain green, no camouflage patterns for me.
