Inspired by the iconic 1980 Royal Navy Clearance Diver's watch, the Navy Eighty CD-1 carries forward the distinctive design and purposeful character of one of the most significant watches in British military horology.

In 1980, CWC secured the contract to supply the Royal Navy's new automatic divers' watch, taking over the role previously occupied by the Rolex Submariner. Developed for the demanding requirements of Royal Navy Clearance Divers, the original became an important part of CWC's history and an enduring design within British military watchmaking.

The Navy Eighty CD-1 builds on this heritage while introducing contemporary materials and specifications for today's wearer. It retains the unmistakable character of the original design but is very much a modern CWC in its own right.

At its heart is the Swiss Sellita SW200-1 Top Grade automatic movement, a proven modern calibre and successor to the ETA movements that powered the original mechanical Royal Navy Diver. A ceramic bezel insert provides enhanced resistance to everyday scratching, while the robust stainless steel case, distinctive sword hands and highly legible dial maintain the functional character of the original.

Every element reflects the practical design philosophy behind the Royal Navy Clearance Diver: clear, purposeful and uncomplicated. This is a watch that respects its military origins without simply reproducing the past.

Dial and lume options

All variants feature X1 Super-LumiNova, with a choice of dial, hand and lume combinations.

Blue Dial

  • Vintage Lume with white hands

  • BGW9 lume with white hands

  • BGW9 lume with silver hands

Black Dial

  • Light Vintage Lume with silver hands

  • Light Vintage Lume with white hands

Vintage-coloured lume provides a warmer, heritage-inspired appearance in daylight, while BGW9 offers a clean white appearance and a blue glow in darkness.

Supplied straps

The Blue CWC Navy Eighty CD-1 is supplied with a 20mm navy blue stretch strap.
The Black CWC Navy Eighty CD-1 is supplied with a black and tan single-pass ribbed strap.
Both colour options are also supplied with an additional standard nylon military strap, providing an alternative look and versatility.
