PIKE BROTHERS 1943 CPO MOLESKIN SHIRT

The U.S. Navy CPO shirt - a classic among outdoor shirts.

Life on deck was a rough business, that's why clothing had to be specially designed to withstand wind and weather. Over the decades, certain materials and fits have therefore become established in seafaring; the CPO shirt is one of these garments.

Originally, CPO shirts were made from wool fabrics, but this uses moleskin woven in Germany. Moleskin is a very robust fabric made from 100% cotton. One side is brushed, which makes it very comfortable to wear. The brushing gives it the look of suede or mole skin. This is where the name moleskin comes from.
